In our short film we shall be using two rural villages in the Thanet area of Kent, these villages both contain years of history and have the ideal sites that we need to create our film. I love the pure simplicity of the locations and the gorgeous and lustrous settings that surround the area. To show signs of life we want to film in real locations with people moving as they would in day to day village life.
Lighting/Colour
As we are using the outdoors in the majority of the scenes natural light is going to be the perfect blend for authenticity and realism. Although when it comes to editing our final product we may choice to add black and white for traditional and bleak feeling which shows emotion in the characters that are used in the sequence.
Costume
Our film will contain just three characters which are the Head Nun, Sister and Monk. The costumes need to be as authentic as we possibly can, the type black and white nuns outfit and the brown robes of the monk. As a group we have placed a great deal of effort into the planning of the outfits as this is the forefront of the image that we are showing. In the local village on Minster in Thanet lays a convent which is still used to this day, the nuns can be seen from time to time which has helped me gain all the knowledge of the clothing that they wear. I have also used the internet to gain research into Monks clothing and the traditional robes that they appear to wear not only in this country but across the entire world.
Props
As we are operating from a Working church we are able to have the props that we need already. We require items such as Crosses and Candles. As we are operating in the local area with items that are already on location there will be no difficulty in moving and adjusts the items to suit our preferences.
Characters
As i have addressed above we have just three characters of the names of Margaret (Nun), Ethel (Head Nun), Ted (The Monk). The characters are all going to be seen as stereotypical to character which helps it remain as real as we possibly can.
